Tide Trail
FAQs
Our day will begin early to make optimal use of the weather with warm-up exercises either in our Centre site in Katapadi or on the beach, followed by a technique-focused kayaking session. The afternoons will consist of theory sessions on navigation and rescue methods, and the evenings reserved for reflection and group discussions.
The course will culminate in a voyage to the White Dog Island where you can apply all that you have learnt.
Physical fitness: Sea kayaking is a great upper body workout and improves cardiovascular fitness.
Mental health: The wind and waves do wonders in relaxation and stress reduction.
Perspective: For most students, this is the first time you have the sea and so many water bodies at such proximity. Being in and amongst these natural features encourages you to think about your place in the world. There are also many wonders - birds, fish, animals - to be found here.
Sun exposure: Make sure you are adequately hydrating and don’t forget to use sunscreen.
Sea sickness: While we do read the sea before embarking from shore, the sea can sometime turn choppy. Learning to manage your symptoms and being prepared will definitely help with this.
